Louisiana colleges offer relief for students from Tsunami areas
The University of Louisiana System is authorizing its eight universities to offer tuition relief to students from countries affected by last month's Tsunami in the Indian Ocean.About 780 students enrolled in the University of Louisiana System come from Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka or Thailand -- all countries affected by the Tsunami that is now blamed for nearly 150-thousand deaths.System spokeswoman Catherine Heitman says tuition relief will be decided on a case-by-case basis.The eight schools in the system are Grambling, Louisiana Tech, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Northwestern State, Southeastern Louisiana, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe.
