URGENT Sri Lanka: Immediate Aid Needed in Koralawella, Moratuwa

There is a shortage of food at the Camp operatiing in the Sunanda Upananda Temple in Koralawella, Moratuwa. Approx. 680 families are living there right now. They say the have sorted out ways of cooking the food and can help themselves if given dry rations. An aid worker there estimates a minimum need of 100 Kgs of rice and 30 Kgs of Dal per meal for all the families for the next 2 days.

Because of the proximity to Colombo, the people of Koralawella have been virtually ignored and left to fend for themselves.

This need is urgent.

Please contact Kelly on +94 777 313068 for more information and for directions on how to get there.

Purana Viharaya temple (at Modara Rd, Koralawella) head priest, Ven. Samitha, told that they have a staging center at the temple for 2 refugee camps in two schools nearby (Thilaka Vidyalaya, and Sadmodaya Vidyalaya). There are no refugees in the temple due to no toilet facilities. There are 700 total refugees in these 2 schools.
They cook for all 700 refugees in the temple and package them and distribute them.
This location is very close to my home. So I have sent couple of people to the temple and to the school to confirm the information. I just want to make sure that it is a genuine cry for help. When confirm, 2 days worth of dry food will be delivered to temple. We will monitor the needs and supply items as needed.
We are in the process of buying 3 X 30kg capacity pans to cook rice, and will be distributed to this temple and 2 other locations where needed. We also looking into vendors who have mats.
They need following items
Sleeping mats (currently they have 12 sleeping mats donated; can't distribute to the refugees b/c people will fight for the mats, according to the head priest)
Plastic plates and cups
Big pan to cook rice (30 kg capacity) (currently, they have a 10 kg capacity pans)
Kids formula bottles and brushes to clean the bottles.
Kid formula
68 kg of Rice per day
10 kg of Dal (Lentil) per day
5 kg of potato per day
Onions, Dry Fish, Coconuts, and other regular cooking materials in a Sri Lankan meal.
