Two new quakes in Myanmar
Bangkok - Thai seismologists said they recorded two earthquakes in neighbouring Myanmar on Thursday morning but neither would spark a tidal wave.
The seismology department said one at 01:07 measured 5.4 on the Richter scale and a second at 01:13 was of 5.6 magnitude.
An official said no tsunami warning was issued because the quakes happened far inland.
Indian Ocean nations are on edge after a huge earthquake off Sumatra last Sunday created a tidal wave which killed tens of thousands of people.
An Indian government warning that high waves could strike again as aftershocks rattled Indonesia sent thousands fleeing in panic on Thursday from the southern coastline. - AFP
