New Year Wishes During Tsunami Crisis

It's a tragic time, this New Years Eve. People are still coming to terms with the disaster, while others are trying to get on with their lives.

Please consider the profound grief that humanity is experiencing at this moment and respect the endless sorrow of people who are mourning.

This is an invitation to keep a moderate tone to all celebrations tonight, and spend a minute in silence in commemoration around midnight.

Peace to all

Best New Year Wishes

can some AID personnel name all the NGOs they are funding? Also, how many volunteers are present at the grass-roots level.

your reply is utterly important for me to decide whether to donate to you or to Red Cross.

Dear Anonymous,

Thanks for your kind note. We are only collecting and disseminating information, not relief funds. Therefore, we request you to read our Aid Agencies section and decide which agency best suits your need and situation.

Oh, and Red Cross is a great institution, by the way. Good luck and a happy New Year to you.

Krishna

We will, of course, be praying for the victims of the tsunamis. On Sunday, our congregation will receive a special offering designated for relief efforts. Thanks for keeping us informed!

I really believe this disaster has brought the world together in mourning. My heart goes out to everyone who has direct connections to this tsunami, this includes people who were there/are there/have family that are there. I will not be having a new years eve party, but instead will be commemerating the aid efforts by the world.

Donate to UNICEF or RED CROSS. Let's show governments that we can give more than they do.

How long do you think it will be before internet users start getting scam notices to help with relief by sending money to non-existent organizations? Or has it already started? These kinds of events bring out the best and the worst in people. Be wary, check all orgs out first before writing that check. The money may never get there. And by the way, what has been the response of organized religion?? Where are they?

I THINK THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES SHOULD DONATE THE 35 MILLION DOLLARS, COLLECTED BY AMERICAN COMPANIES FOR HIS INAUGURATION CELEBRATIONS, TO THE RELIEF OF THE TSUNAMI

While not affected directly or indirectly by the Tsunami I felt It would not be right to be celebrating the new year at a time of such loss not only for Asia but the world. I donated the money set aside for tonight's festivities as I feel it will be of more use to the people of Asia than me. Natural disasters can affect any of us and we need to pull together.
