First tsunami early warning centre. ( CTEC)
I am a volunteer who has been running a refugee village in Sri lanka for the past 5 months at Peraliya where the famous train wreck occured that killed over 2000 people.
We have started a Community Tsunami Early- warning Center run by the villagers themselves. It is manned 24 hours a day 365 days a year in 5 hour paid shifts with computers phones, loud speakers and sirens set up around the village. It is small but a start as once a week someone runs through the village yelling Tsunami and all hell breaks lose. Check out Peraliya.com
