After 10 days, food aid has only reached a quarter of the 2 million survivors of the tsunami in Asia, according to the World Food Programme, which is mobilising helicopters and hovercraft to overcome remote and rough terrain.
"This is a complex emergency that requires a response never seen before," Anthony Banbury, Asia director at the United Nations agency, told a news conference on Wednesday. The WFP has sent food -- typically protein-rich biscuits, rice, pulses and canned fish -- to 464,000 people living on the rim of the Indian Ocean. Read more here.
