Industry Not Affected in Tamil Nadu
Except hospitality, tourism and fishing sectors, no other industrial activities seem to have been affected due to the Tsunami tidal waves that devastated the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry on Sunday last, Chennai Online reports.
The East Coast Road in Chennai which usually witnesses people, especially young men and women, going ga-ga to herald the dawn of new year, wore a deserted look on the 31st night.
Luckily, only two major tourist destinations -- Mamallapuram and Kanniyakumari -- were affected and there were only minor damages in other tourist spots located in the coastal areas, according to Shaktikanta Das, Commissioner of Tourism, Government of Tamil Nadu.
In Mamallapuram, around 10-15 major resorts, loated near the sea, that attracted huge leisure travellers during holidays, have been affected by the tidal waves.
