Camp management streamlined in Sri Lanka

The management of the camps established to temporarily house the Internally Displaced Persons has now been streamlined. The staff responsibility of the camps lies with the Government Agents of each district. Since the establishment of these camps soon after the Tsunami most camps have been managed very efficiently.

However, in certain camps pilferage of food and other welfare items have been reported. The security, law and order within certain camps have also posed a problem. The President has decided to enlist the support of the military to streamline the management and to help in maintaining a safe and secure environment within each camp.
