Dealing with Crisis- Coping with the tragedy

An interview with Adrienne Carter, a clinical therapist based in Victoria, is heading to India for Médecins Sans Frontièrs (MSF) to help assess the need for mental health counselling.

She answers the following questions:
  • Why is it necessary to provide mental health counselling?
  • Are children affected differently than adults? How?
  • What is the best way to broach the topic with children?
  • Are there special concerns for children living on the West Coast, near a fault line?
  • Are children here likely to be fearful that something like this could happen anywhere?
