The UN Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan, has concluded his visit to the Maldives. Mr. Kofi Annan, and his wife, Mrs. Nane Annan, were seen-off at Male' International Airport this afternoon by the President. The President thanked Mr. and Mrs. Annan for visit the Maldives at this time of unprecedented national distress. Mr. Annan said that relief efforts in the Maldives were extremely effective, and that the spirit of national unity had facilitated this.
