Govt of India has released 20th Situation Report dated 4 Jan 2005, at 1800 Hrs.

The focus is on relief, rescue and rehabilitation in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Disaster Management teams have been constituted in 12 Islands by the A&N administration where the relief efforts are now concentrated. The teams have representatives of the Department of Revenue, Agriculture, PWD, Police, Fishery, Animal Husbandry and Civil Supplies. There are no reports of any law and order problem in the context of relief operations in any of the Islands . Retrieval and burial/cremation of the dead bodies is going side by side. The Central Para Military Personnel are helping in this regard. All the Islands have been surveyed and relief supplies have started reaching.
