Mercy Needs Medicine, Food For Sri Lanka
The Malaysian medical relief organisation Mercy Malaysia Tuesday appealed for donations of medicine, medical supplies, equipment, mineral water and high energy biscuits for operations in Sri Lanka.
A Mercy Malaysia statement said it was coordinating a relief operation for Sri Lanka, one of the worst-hit countries of the Dec 26 tsunami, and a reconnaissance team was despatched to Colombo on Dec 31.
It said the team, comprising Mercy Malaysia executive member Dr Palasunthram Shanmuhasunthram, Dr Nasir Mohamad and Praemeenah Poobalan, had met with Sri Lankan non-governmental organisation and community leaders to evaluate the needs of the people.
Monetary contributions can also be made to the Mercy Humanitarian Fund by cheque (with SE Asia Earthquake Appeal written on the back) or by deposit into its Maybank account: 5621-7950-4126.
