Fishermen return disappointed
[India News]: Rameswaram, Jan 4 : Around 2,500 fishermen from this island, who ventured into the sea in 600 boats for the first time after the Tsunami devastated the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, returned to shore today, disappointed that the catch had not been upto their expectations.
The fishermen, happy at being able to resume fishing, told reporters that normally, there would be a very big catch after cyclones and the like. "We expected a good catch as we put out to sea after a week..But it was disappointing." "We didn't see any change in the sea.. We liked it".
"Life or death..Sea is everything for us..Why should we be afraid of the sea?," said fisherman Thomas, responding to a reporter's query. "Did not Tsunami shatter your confidence?" Meanwhile, officials expressed the hope that fishermen in other areas would also gain in confidence and put out to sea over the next few days.
